Last year's Esprit was fun-filled and offered
favorite traditional activities and events as well as entirely new ones.
Here's a recap of the bigger events in 2006:
The
traditional Sunday evening icebreaker Cocktail Party was held for
all of the early arrivals at Esprit. Attendees enjoyed snacks,
mingled, renewed old friendships, and made plans for the week. |
Classes
kicked off on Monday. The short skirts arrived in force at the nearby
Delaney's pub and pool hall that evening to play in the annual Esprit
Pool Tournament. The action was fun, fast and furious for beginners
and sharks alike. Congratulations to Leilani, our 2006 Champion! |
After
a day of activities such as winery tours, high tea in Victoria BC,
and shopping trips, an entertaining evening of round robin card games
and DJ dance music rounded out Tuesday. |
On
Wednesday the Port Angeles Community Players treated attendees to
a private showing of the award-winning play "Enchanted April."
The evening included special recognition of the contributions made
by Lou Lawrence, one of Port Angeles' elders. Her downtown clothing
store welcomed Esprit in the early years with friendly service,
wine and cheese refreshments, and a smile. |
Thursday
night saw attendees choosing their favorite traditional informal theme
dinner. Fine French cuisine, family style Chinese food, award-winning
Thai...Port Angeles has it all. It's an intentionally quiet evening
in preparation for an intense weekend. For those who didn't want to
settle down, you could enjoy DJ dance music at the hotel or the The
Nasty Habits playing live in town. |
The
Friday Talent Show and this year's radio-style "Fairy Home Companion"
presented great comedy sketches interspersed with courageous and talented
attendees who performed their own acts. After the show, the live TG
rock bands Glitter Bitch as well as The Nasty Habits were available
for those who wanted to dance the night away. |
The
final classes wrapped up on Saturday. The traditional and emotional
graduation ceremony was held for first-time attendees and SO's. The
theme for Saturday was The Electric Princess Ball and the ballroom
at the historic Elk's Lodge was a sea of glowing lights and lit-up
ballgowns. The Woodies provided an energetic evening of live dance
music. |
